Find All the Parts @ www.MJmods.com
This portion of the Reef Chili site is dedicated to modifying your own Maxi Jet. Many of the
threads on the boards have become simply too long to read for the average person. You can go
to the first page and read the “how to” on many of them but you need to read the next 500 posts
to get the updates … My hope is this site will enable more people to be able to mod their MJ . This
project not only saves a ridiculous amount of money but it can be very  fun, especially if you
have some club members come over and you do it as a group.

I’d like to note that while I have done some of my own innovations this certainly was not my
creation.  This is the result of many other peoples hard work and innovative ideas on the boards.
These are just the way I build them , There may very well be better ways to make some parts but
for all the small innovations you will need to read  threads like the one below. A special thanks to
dhnguyen on the Reef Central boards for creating the thread that showed me how to make
these, with out him I would have never figured it out or even heard about it. He has  enabled
thousands of us to complete this project, Thanks : )

*Special Note on tools Required*

Most of this can be done with a dremel (or cheap $15 dremel copy) and a drill. Don’t let your lack of tools stop you
from completing this project. Almost all of us know someone who owns a miter/chop saw or table saw. If you really
don’t know anyone with one of these then make a post on your reef clubs message board, there is always someone
else that owns the right tools and would like to make one of these themselves. I found it to be a great way to get to
know our club members better. After looking around at home depots , Menards, and fleet farms I have found $29
miter saws and cheap table saws as low as $69. Once you own a table saw you would be amazed at how many
things you end up using it for : )

Id like to note that for the most part all of the above ways to make a MJ mod will function about the same.  Most the
changes are really just how to attach it to the housing and/or making it look nicer. The exceptions would be that the
intermediate level one can be used with the larger Props and the expert uses an assemble which I believe
produces less noise. It should be noted that while the expert mod isn’t really all that difficult it does provide for more
ways to mess it up and requires more tools.

In the end this is a do it yourself project and your results will be based off how much time and effort you put into it.
There is also just a bit of luck involved : )
